this._x += 4 and this._y = Math.sin((this._x + -60)/ 40)*25 + 30 goes on the movieclip that moves in the sine wave pattern, plus a little script to make it return to the left side of the screen once it reaches the far right. line_mc.lineTo(_root.mc._x, _root.mc._y) to draw the lines, with a script to change the color for each new line. I could send you the .fla if you want but the variable names are kind of a mess.
