Piano is such a great instrument. This is a really nice song; I love the sound of the piano, the reverb on it, and of course the nice melodies :) I like listening to loops on repeat pretty often, so this didn't sound monotonous to me at all. When the music is good, repetition is good, that's what I say haha. Nice song man.

stunkel responds:

Thanks man! Glad that you liked it!

This didn't really strike me as very sad at all. A bit contemplative, but with an overall positive atmosphere. I like it, especially since it makes me think of an underwater world on Super Mario 64 haha. Your music seems to often remind me of professionally produced video game soundtracks and film scores.

I like all your synths and keyboard sounds and whatnot. The drums seem a bit off; maybe too loud? The delay on the drums fits the music, but it almost seems a bit too prominent in the mix. For this sort of song, I think softer drum sounds would go better, with a bit of a more subtle delay. Other than that though, this is pretty good. Nice work!

stunkel responds:

Oh that'd good! Yeah it was just in a minor key so I went for the intro so I said it was sad. And did I LOVE MARIO 64!! Awesome game. And I guess that's a good thing that they sound familiar to you :P Thanks for that, I take it as a huge compliment

The drums might be too loud now that you mention it, if they sound off I think it's just the echo effect I put on it. But thanks for the review man! Really appreciate the support!

This is absolutely perfect for what you described it's for! I can easily imagine a flashback scene to this. It reminds me of the brief flashback scene from Pixar's 'Up' for some reason, which I would say is a good thing.

As a song in itself, it's well built and on the professional level of film scores I would say, though due to being custom made for a specific type of scene, it's not really the kind of song I would listen to myself. I can imagine this being very effective when paired with it's intended scene though, and that's really what matters with this kind of thing. Quality stuff!

stunkel responds:

Yeah, I didn't think that this was much of a thing to listen to jut for fun. Just something to put out there fitting the scene of what I wrote. But to be fair, that scene kind of hit me after I made it. I did purposely make it sound like it would fit a film score, but not the scene I described... I think I had something close to this in mind, but then I changed it midway... I honestly forget. But thanks for the feedback man!

I love this. It's so peaceful, filled with a sense of well-being; it just feels good! I especially like the background ambiance; it almost sounds like reverb on the piano, though I'm not sure, but it's very subtle and at the same time creates a warm base for the song to float on, if that makes sense. Very nice song here :)

stunkel responds:

Thanks man! And yeah that ambiance is just from the reverb on the instruments... its weird how it works with logic pro. And yeah it totally sounds like reverb on piano! Totally makes sense too haha. I'm glad you liked the song :D

This is very well composed! A few people mentioned that your instruments sound a bit "synthy" but I actually really like it when an artist's talent surpasses the quality of his software; it really showcases the hard work and creativity of the artist, as opposed to sounding realistic just because the samples are well recorded.

This song makes me think of video games, Super Smash Bros in particular for some reason or another. It's professional, very well constructed, and has such an adventurous feel to it! The only thing I think could be better is the end; it seems too abrupt. I think a longer sustain and a crescendo would wrap it up extremely well. The rest is excellent though! Great song, man.

stunkel responds:

Thanks for the review! :D And I'm glad you were able to overlook the bad instrument quality, but I really should get some better sounding software instruments... It's that time. But I'm glad you see it as creative in whatever way possible :D Makes me feel good when I hear stuff like that.

Games like super smash bros on the N64 were definitely huge inspirations to this song. And the adventurous feel is exactly what I went for! :D And I tried to cue the ending a bit better, it was a lot more bland before hand. And what is a crescendo? I totally agree with a longer sustain, that would be awesome. Thanks again for the awesome review though! :D

This is amazing. Truly a great song in just about every aspect.

The guitars are very well played and tastefully amped and whatnot. The compression on the mix got a bit choppy on the palm-mutes, but other than that, the guitars sounded flawless. The leads and solos were extremely good; the guitar work is definitely the high point of this song.

The symphonic elements were pretty well done. The intro is dramatic, as it should be for the Batman theme. The part shortly after the intro when the guitars are playing with the trumpets sounds a bit odd, but that is the only time the symphonics didn't fit well.

Drumkit from Hell is a bit overused, but that's because it's a damn good and easy kit to use. I've used it myself. The drums were very well programmed, never giving away their inhuman nature. Very good use of cymbals and toms throughout, especially the cymbals.

The song is put together very well, both in mixing and in structure. Everything flows, and the song almost seems too short because it's so cool to listen to! You did a really great job on this; top notch! I'd like to compliment you on your guitar playing once again, because I really do like it. You're skilled, man.

Excellent song!

ArtificialFear responds:

Thanks for your thorough and constructive input! I really appreciate it!

Pros: Good choice of synths and sounds, decent drum loop, good structure and atmosphere.

Cons: Cheesy melody, repetitive drums, and last but not least, DOES NOT BELONG TO YOU.

What part of "You must be the owner and creator of the work you are submitting. " did you not understand? I'm sure it will be taken care of shortly, but please, never, EVER submit to the Audio Portal, a song that you didn't make yourself.

Pretty cool

I've never played Quake II but I love industrial video game soundtracks, and this is a good one! but you should get yourself a real guitar! It's really easy to record electric guitar, not like drums. Very cool riffs though, and the guitar does sound okay. and the drums are good for just being samples. Good song!

KKSlider60 responds:

Hard to believe, but I do have a real guitar XDD I just have very little time to learn, so I have to rely on virtual instruments. I keep the real instruments for experimentation, something that softwares can hardly give me.
Thanks, anyway :D

Whoa!

These riffs are sweet! And very well played too! How much experience do you have? I've been playing just for fun for a few months now haha. Such a cool song here, and the drums are great for being computerized! I hate it when people have to use crappy samples but what are you gonna do if you don't have a nice recording setup or money for expensive software. You are amazing at playing guitar though, and writing riffs! Great song!

Great

You are a really good guitarist! I hope to get better soon. Your riffs are all really good, but I just wish that everyone could record real drums instead of computerizing them! Oh well, it is tough to do that, much harder than recording guitar. Very cool song, I love the leads too, and the tones are good.

By the way do you know how long does it take to authorize my first audio submission? I want people to hear my guitar playing even if it does suck :P

GraveDigger87 responds:

I remember the authorization taking only a couple days for my first song on this profile. But in 2010 i started a new profile for a project my friends and i were doing and our song there took two weeks to get authorized. So just be patient i guess.

I would like to have real drums in my music but yeah recording them would be a bit of an obstacle. I'm glad you like my riffs, thanks for the review man!
